| Chub, sometimes when I go to mute someone in the lobby, it just brings up their player card with out the mute. I hit circle and it brings up my friends list, hit circle again and I'm back in the lobby. Hit that name again (or any other) and you get the page where you can mute them. Is that what was happening to you? | |

| I'll have to try that. Before the patch it would occasionally go to the report player instead of mute, back out and try again and mute would be there. Now there is no option for mute. Several others say the same that I play with. We all tried to mute another team yesterday but no one could, there was no option. It is only in the pre-game lobby. Once in the game you can mute the players and they will stay muted for further matches. I even noticed that players who left the lobby (after the game and did not continue playing in our room), then were in matches later in the night were still muted (from a match 1/2 hour before). That being said, the connections seem to be much better with fewer disconnects. I am still randomly getting disconnected but far less frequently. The disconnects I am getting now will say that the player lobby is closed but when I return to the group (if I can get in) the lobby is still up and going. | |

| Okay, as I haven't played it at all since the patch came out, I'll just leave at that then. I love wasting time in game muting people. Other sources are now telling me that the disconnects are all our fault for not having the proper networks or taking the time to muck around with network settings. So it's all our fault now, not the developers. You all keep that in mind. | |

| I just found this to add to the list from yesterday....
Call of Duty: Black Ops gets major patch, PS3 gamers suffer connection issues by Griffin McElroy on Dec 15th 2010 12:20PM
Treyarch recently gave its blockbuster shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops its biggest booster shot to date on Xbox 360 and PS3, adding some neat new functionality while initiating some oft-requested server stability fixes and various gameplay tweaks. The biggest changes include: the addition of over 400 new Contracts (perfect for folks who are still on that paper chase); the new option to play offline with AI practice dummies; split-screen multiplayer; and a new "Dolly Cam" for the game's Theater mode, giving machinma-makers a bit more cinematographic flexibility.
Unfortunately, not every player seems to be a fan of the update so far -- a growing thread on the game's official forums is filled with complaints from PS3 owners who say the patch has worsened freezing, crashing and other connectivity issues that have plagued their console's version of the game since launch. Treyarch has stated that it's constantly working on fixes for the game, so if you're suffering from the PS3 networking blues, you might want to add your voice to the pile. For now, check out the full, super esoteric list of changes from the new patch posted after the break.
New Features
* Over 400 brand new Contracts * Practice Dummies (aka, AI bots) in offline Local Split Screen * A new camera editing mode in Theater called "Dolly Cam" * "Load Multiplayer by Default" option for the PS3

| An update from last night....
NOTE: There have been rumors suggesting that deleting your save data will improve network connectivity. Please do not delete your save data, as it will not have an effect on network connectivity. A hot fix was released at 9:30p PST last night, coinciding with the first instance of this rumor, and this hot fix is the reason many users have experienced improved connectivity.

| It's horse shit!! Playing last night and had several lockups. The lockups are now sometimes occurring with the entire group when happens and not just individuals. I also had a freeze and had to reboot my system this morning when in the theater reviewing previous matches.

| Yep. 2 out of 3 games yesterday dropped, so Assasin's Creed finally made it into my PS3. If anyone else doesn't have that option, I'd suggest trying zombie mode with friends. I hit level 25 solo before f'ing up. | |

| I'm glad to say that I have several options available to me and this one can sit on the shelf until I hear different, without really being missed. | |

| Thanks for that last post Shamos. 2 days ago while online a group of us were discussing NAT and mine was open. A little later in the night I noticed the directly connect to MP option so I selected it. Last night when I logged on I noticed that my NAT was Moderate which I felt was very strange and tried to correct it without success. After reading your most recent post, I unselected the direct connect to MP and my NAT is back to open (where it will stay). Such a pain in the ass!!!! | |

| Patch 1.05 released at 2AM PST on 12/22/10. This patch is part of a series of ongoing improvements to online connectivity which will be continued over the next few weeks. Treyarch is dedicated to ensuring the best gaming experience for the fans, and we’ve been actively working with you to continue to improve the game based on your feedback. As always, keep the feedback coming through the community forums.
IN PROGRESS:
* • Addressing a freeze that would occur in rare situations involving a combination of high player counts and many killstreaks / explosions occurring simultaneously in a concentrated area * • Further improvements to party reliability to address an issue where mixed NAT types connecting and disconnecting can cause players to drop in some situations * • Investigating “infinite loading screen” issue reported by some users
LIVE FIXES
12/22 (full patch 1.05) * • Improved party reliability when leaving with party – an additional step in an ongoing series of party improvements continued in the next patch * • Improved UPnP functionality – further expands the game’s capability to open NATs on routers with universal plug and play enabled * • Enabled mute functionality in Playercards in the pre-game lobby * • Enabled kick functionality in party and private match lobbies * • Addressed an issue where the pre-game lobby would not always display properly when multiple players leave the lobby after a team split * • Addressed an issue where the pre-game lobby would appear stuck on the countdown timer while waiting to balance teams

| Now if they would only take a portion of the 1 Billion dollars that they have made and use it to actually fix the game. | |

| Patch 1.06 has just gone live....
1/25/11 (Patch 1.06) New Features: # • New contracts added to the rotation. # • Added optional pre-match timer for LAN / System-Link games.
Issues Addressed: # • Fixed freeze associated with larger games. # • Improved reliability of players connections to one another. # • Improved ability to bring parties to the game lobby. Late party joiners would try to connect to previous lobby host and be denied if new joiners trigger a lobby host migration. # • Addressed an issue where the Host encounters and infinite spinning loading circle after a Host migration. # • Fixed a timing specific, long/infinite loading screen when joining games (sometimes giving you “Error - Read error (0x80010713) on file <map name>"). # • Fixed a timing-specific freeze when host powered down during host migration. # • Cleaned up the map search filter in the Community section (deleted unused entries). # • Fixed Combat Training’s "USE FRIENDS" option for bots names. # • Fixed issue with split-screen guest profile names being blank, resulting in matches never launching. # • Instead of showing the generic “Player” for offline profiles in LAN, we now display the PS3 profile name. # • Fixed Friends list appearing after viewing a Friends Playercard from the Leaderboards. # • Fixed filter so players can now view Friends on Zombies leadboards. # • Fix timing specific issue where the game can be put into slow motion. # • Addressed "disconnected path" error when using the doors in Radiation after a host migration. # • Fixed stability issues navigating lobbies after client on Split Screen Zombies quits out of a game. # • Addressed issue/exploit when removing Counter Spy Plane effects with the Jammer. # • Fixed a freeze when quickly loading maps one after another in private match. # • Fixed issue where players get primary weapons in Second Chance. # • Fixed “NEW” stamp not disappearing for Custom Slot 9 when highlighting the slot. # • Removed water vision effect when respawning after dying in the acid pool in Radiation. # • Several contract fixes.
Gameplay Tuning: # • Second Chance – players that put an enemy into Second Chance are now credited for a full kill once that enemy dies. If another player kills the enemy while the enemy is in Second Chance, they will get assist credit. # • Adjustments to the PSG1 with attachments. # • AK74U adjustments. # • RCXD adjustments. # • Silenced sniper rifle adjustments. # • Removed hit markers when shooting friendly equipment.

| I wish they would adjust Second Chance so that I don't get shot by the downed man, even though I never stopped shooting him with an automatic weapon. It's absurd. | |
