PostSubject: New House is Reserved   New House is Reserved EmptyThu Apr 21, 2011 7:22 pm

Not much else to add, but i have just reserved our house and should hopefully be built and moved in around August!!

Best part is the internet connection is looking to increase from 1.5Mbps at my current house to 8Mbps, i won't know what to do with myself i'll be able to walk on water in games with that speed, could this be the end of the 2 bar connection??

Anyway i will keep you posted for any one interested haha.

Well this is the completed brickwork (nearly completed the garage needs to on the left soon) which was done a couple days ago, all choices have been decided and agreed (Tiles, Carpets, Units etc) Bed has been ordered as was £300 off so we'll just store it, Sofa / Dining Table have been choosen and then just need TV Unit and Table for Living Room and hope that the TV i've been looking at comes down another couple hundred £ by August then i will be set for BFBC3 and MW3 (may have to look for a cheeky surround sound system aswell)

Now should only be about 10 weeks til completed, and i'm hoping the fibre optic broadband will be installed end of June ready for us in July/Aug

Looks good. A suggestion on the sound system. I got the Boston Aucoustics Sound Bar. 5 speakers plus a sub. Great sound for the price and it really does improve the sound quality of games. I can tell which direction a sound was coming from every time. Easy set up and it can be programmed to work with any TV remote control.

nice. they must be paying you too much at your job.haha. enjoy it you earned it. how much you laying down for your surround sound? ive been reading up on them alot and you definitely need to listen to it before you purchase it. im looking at an aperion system, it is a little known company but every review ive ever read about them and there speakers is great and they have a 30 day in home trial, they ship to you free then if you decide to return them (there is a 2% return rate) you ship them back to them for free. its a cant lose deal and you get to audition them in your home. unfortunately, they only ship in the us.the system im looking at is a $2500 (over 1500 pounds) system but its top notch and im close to selling a few acres of land i use to live on for a couple hundred thousand so ill have a little cash to spend. british manufactured "monitor" speakers are a really good option as well as paradigm, jmlab-focal, kef, definitive technology, boston acoustics, and polk (which i currently have). surround bar is definitely an option, but you can go bookshelf if you have a limited space. you will be able to place them where you want. im wanting some floorstanding speakers, i have a big room and i want the full effect. im interested in what system you get and how they sound, so keep me informed if you would.

Wooow nice score on the selling of the land hope that all goes well if you go ahead with it.

I wouldn't be spending anything like that on surround sound. I'll just be getting an off the shelf product, but i will look into the companies you suggested. As I heard so many mixed reviews about wireless speakers and the amount of wireless stuff you have in a houes these days i will be probs going for a fully wired 5.1 surround sound hopefully with all 4 main speakers being tallboys (standing) and just pull the carpet up slightly to get the rear speakers wires under.

However i have been looking at TV's and i think i have choosen the TV i want, went to have a look and the TV picture is stunning and the 3D is a bonus and looks good and gaming should be fun. Plus with the size of the frame makes this 46" only 2cm wider than our current 42"

http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/tv-audio-video/television/led-tv/UE46D7000LUXXU/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail

Anyway if i find a surround system i will let you know.

Back to the house we exchanged contracts on Friday so thats the most i've spent at one time which quickly will be topped in a couple months. Although i was then told on Friday afternoon that 3 other plots had been sold next to ours and 2 of them want to move in ASAP and therefore they might hurry up on completing the houses which will then mess things up with us as it could be competed in July which means we won't have our months pay and leave us short on our deposit so going up tomorrow to try to sort things out as i don't think it's fair that we explained we need to complete after July and we've been in the transaction for 3 months and then 2 people come in last week and they bloody jump to pull everything forward!!

Like i said i'll hopefully get it sorted tomorrow!!

is it legal for them to come in and do that? i hope you get everything sorted out with that. buying a house is nerve wracking, good luck.

nice tv, i have a samsung lcd and the picture is great, so it can only be better with the led. im curious how the 3-d looks on home tv's

well, the buyers signed our sales offer on the land and were under contract. they have 15 days to get an inspection on the property done and then we will be signing closing papers and getting paid, now i need to figure out how to invest that money. im probably not going with the 2500 speakers. im gonna do probably 1500 and get a new receiver.

Congrats, Martin.

For our TV, we picked out a couple we liked, set aside the cash, and waiting for a sale or other opportunity. In our case, a nice 42" appeared as an out of the box return at our local Sam's club.

Incidentally, I've decided I don't like the enormous TVs, 55" and up. In all but the biggest living room, it is just too distracting.

Yea i've been looking at the Samsung D7000 46" as it is a big screen TV but the screen goes pretty much to the edge so the width of the unit is the same as my current 42", the picture is amasing and for a bit of fun it has 3D.
