| After two years it's time for my wife to settle with the insurance company regarding her car accident. This is the 'pain and suffering' part of the deal. The attorneys we talked to were pretty non specific, so we're trying to figure out what to expect, and if it will be worth our time/money to get an attorney.
Anyone gone through this? I thought I saw in one place to expect something like 2-3 times the medical bills as a rule of thumb for pain and suffering, but can't find that info again.
As for the wife, her wrist is at about 70%, and will probably stay there. That means she can use it, but it gets sore easily, and if she uses it to push herself up, it will often fail. Just some minor scarring on her arm.

| I wish I could help but I haven't a clue. I do have a couple of customers who are lawyers so I might be able to check with them if they ever come back form where ever lawyers go over Christmas break. I'm sure it was much nicer than my trek to the woods of Maine.Let me know if you can't find something and I'll try tracking one of them down if needed. | |

| I'm disappointed I didn't study game theory, now.
We're thinking we'll try to negotiate ourselves, first, then move on to an attorney if needed. 30% is a lot to take away when I think we'll do fine by ourselves. Here is my current thinking:
They offered some $32,000, which is 75% of her medical bills. I think this is laughable based on what I know or can guess. Nomani can use her hand and arm, but it's not normal and never will be. Toss in she had to stop breast feeding our daughter, and ended up suffering from depression that she's still being treated for, and I think we can shoot for:
Say "we were thinking $200,000 but guess we could settle for $150,000", then wait until she (their negotiator) reacts to see if we're being ridiculous or not. If it sounds like we're being ridiculous, I think we'll actually settle for some $90,000. Otherwise we're actually angling for $130,000 or so. Once we're down at $90,000 and below (double her med bills or less), we're getting an attorney.

| Rob had a biopsy done yesterday on a suspect tumor. Hopefully he's returning home today and will have the results in short order. | |

| Biopsy was a few weeks ago. Yesterday they took my Thyroid. I'll find out if they cancer spread sometime this week. The good news is I still have my voice. And for fun, my wife let me grow a beard for a bit, and as we all know, the best of a beard is shaving it off. | |

| Almost cut my finger off. The table saw only got all the flesh, none of the bone, so that we just stitched up.
The tumor was 4cm, or about the size of a walnut. I get to take thyroid pills every day forever. And since my body can't manage it's calcium levels, I drink lots of milk. If I don't, and my fingers, lips, or nose tingle or go numb, I have to go to the ER, because my heart will stop soon.

| Thank you. My Thyroid was all kinds of cancery, but now he's off in a jar somewhere, or an incinerator, so good riddance.
I'll have to take radioactive iodine in about a month, which will keep me quarantined from my family for however long, but I'm really hoping to get bit by a spider or something during, so there's always that to hope for.
